Director Freddie Francis had made horrors for both Hammer and Amicus but this is nothing like any of them. Shot on location with an atmosphere mixing playground horror and conservatory theatre that is downright weird and unsettling. The great lost girl of sixties British horror, Vanessa Howard, shines as she does in those other rarely seen gems Corruption [1967] and What Became of Jack and Jill [1972]. If Harold Pinter had made The Texas Chain Saw Massacre [1974] for the BBC this could have resulted. Excellent and unique.

　　西班牙知名B级片导演赫苏斯·佛朗哥（才华多到自己给自己编导的电影配乐，电影很有好莱坞范儿）执导，男主角是跟他多次合作（主要合作了博满洲系列）的克里斯托弗·李。另外， 赫伯特·罗姆（汉默版《歌剧魅影》等）、克劳斯·金斯基（《诺斯费拉图》翻版）、 玛丽亚·罗姆（赫苏斯·佛朗哥电影里的常客），杰克·泰勒这几位跟LEE常常搭档的演员们均有参演！电影的亮点除了布景，演员，就是剧本了。电影剧本很用心思，细节到细微词句变化，相信会是原著党最爱的版本。

　　贝克斯菲尔德（伯特·兰卡斯特 Burt Lancaster 饰）是林肯机场的总经理，繁忙的工作让他总是将家庭摆在人生的次要位置，导致备受冷落的妻子辛迪（达娜·温特 Dana Wynter 饰）最终选择了离开。　　就在贝克斯菲尔德的婚姻遭遇了破坏性的打击的同时，他的事业也发生了前所未有的危机，一架飞机抛锚在了跑道上，阻碍了其他飞机起飞，更糟的是，另一架飞机上，一名恐怖分子引爆了炸弹，导致飞机严重受损，必须使用跑到着陆，否则就会机毁人亡。在飞机专家帕特洛尼（乔治·肯尼迪 George Kennedy 饰）的帮助下，贝克斯菲尔德凭借着惊人的胆识和智慧最终顺利化解危机，不仅如此，他还和女助手开启了一段罗曼史。
